This past weekend was a very exciting time for my little family. A lot of you don't know this but we live with my mother-in-law. AND grandmother-in-law. I love them both very much but when they told us last month they were going out of town I got very excited. We had a whole weekend to just be a FAMILY of 3! This does not happen often and we took full advantage!!! 

Friday night we went to the grocery store and got the stuff we needed to have some people over Saturday and the stuff i'm making for thanksgiving. We also picked up a family favorite for dinner: Kroger brand 6 cheese spaghetti sauce on top of Angel hair pasta. I craved this when I was preggo and I was wanting some (my MIL and GIL have to have meat in their spaghetti so I can't make it when they are here) and Fletcher tore it up. I wonder if he remembered it coming through his umbilical cord? ;) 

 

Saturday Fletch and I hung out at home while RB worked. He got off at 2 and we cleaned up outside and moved the fire pit to the patio area and blew the leaves off and my bestie and her family came over for "friendsgiving" We sat around, ate appetizers, talked, and roasted marshmallows for S mores. Yum!

Sunday I went to church and heard the most wonderful message on healing, (Want some healing? PLEASE click here and watch this. Trust me on this & Thank me later)  and then made the drive to Loganville to babysit KP so Michelle and D could go to a funeral. I love getting our boys together to play. KP calls FAR "baby FAR" even though FAR is almost as big as KP! (FAR is 17 months, KP is almost 4!)

This is my confession...

Okay so I have something I need to tell you. I failed to mention that yesterday was my birthday. Usually my birthdays are the biggest day of the year. We always have a big party, I get lots of presents, and it's a wonderful time. I knew, due to finances, etc that this birthday would not be this way and so I just put out of my mind. But quite honestly, this was one of my favorite birthdays. My hubby got me the sweetest card from him and FAR got me a card too :) My bestie surprised me when I woke up Saturday AM with a Starbucks gift card and Reeses (My favorite candy!) And we spent the day feeding bears and traveling. Wait did I get ahead of myself? Let's start at the beginning....

Friday afternoon we dropped FAR off with his Aunt KK and Uncle G and met Michelle & Daniel in Loganville. We left about 6:30 and stopped to eat and made it all the way to the Mall of GA (45 minutes or so) before we stopped again at POPCORN HAVEN! I so wish I would of taken photos here... This place was amazing! RB and I got: Dill Pickle Popcorn (my fav!) Hot Wing and Ranch with Cheese, and BANANA PUDDING POPCORN! Daniel and Michelle got 1/2 Salt and Vinegar 1/2 Dill Pickle,  Peanut Butter Chocolate, and KEY LIME PIE! It was so delish! We talked and snacked on popcorn the entire trip up. 

 

 

 

Saturday we woke up and went to Helen. Lucky for us, it was Octoberfest! We had a blast walking around and going into shops, and we ate dinner at Pauls on the River. Yum! We went back to the cabin and played games and talked and had a great time :) 

 

 

 

 

Sunday was my actual Birthday and we woke up and ate a amazing breakfast of eggs, bacon, and grits. We then packed up and left to go to see the Bears! We got to feed them and look at them. Those bears looked so sweet and cuddly I made the comment I wanted to take one home. The creepy caretaker guy informed me they would kill me. It was defiantly an experience  On the way out we made plans to break the bears free so they could go back into the wild... 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So all in all my birthday weekend was wonderful. memorable. and one of the best ones ever. Funny how that kinda thing sneaks up on you right? :)

Dear Mountain Weekend: After 3 months of planning, anticipating, and being overly excited you are finally here. Yay!! Dear RB: I can't wait for some rest, relaxation, and not having to chase a toddler for 48 whole hours! Dear FAR: Mommy and Daddy will miss you, but I know you will have fun with your Aunt KK and Uncle G. Dear Bestie: So excited we finally get to hang out and have bestie time. It's been far far too long... Dear GPC: If you are going to hire online instructors to instruct us, make sure they know how to do their jobs. We meet the deadlines or we get penalized... they don't meet their deadlines to us and it ticks me off!!

Dear RB: A mountain weekend with our best friends next weekend? So very excited. Cant wait for some adult alone time with you!! Dear FAR: I know mommy had to leave you last weekend to go into the hospital and that broke both of our hearts, but next weekend I know you will have a blast with your Aunt Kay Kay and she will spoil you rotten! Dear Face: Keep up the good work with the healing thing. Dear Self: Why was I so crazy to schedule a gyno apt. Thursday, a Dr. Apt Friday and were leaving Friday night! *Crazy self* Dear Grey's: Last night you broke me. That was the saddest episode ever. Cannot wait until next week!! Dear Bloggy Friends: I love each and every one of you. Just thought you should know.

Foodie Mommy

Hey Y’all! I am Michelle from Foodie Mommy. I am a mommy to 3 crazy children who make my world go around and also give me a thousand tiny gray hairs you can’t see because I have an awesome hair dresser. They  15,12 & 3 ½. A Wife to one of the most amazing men in the world , a runner, a food fanatic.( Ya’ girl likes to eat J ) and follower of Christ ! Our life is like a crazy three ring circus , but it’s OUR circus and I wouldn’t change a thing. Drop by and check me out sometime… I try and post regularly but it doesn’t always make it to publish. 

  So I am going to tell you about my Best friend, Amanda, Mrs. Tales from Far herself,  while she is out on the beach soaking up some sun for me on her awesome vacation... while I'm stuck in this office... BOOOO ;) 

   I have known Amanda for about 6 years now. I met her through her brother Andy & her Momma because we went to church together. We immediately hit it off because we both love to talk! Bless your heart if you are trying to get somewhere because you aren’t gonna make it if we are having a conversation. ;)  Anyway.. Amanda is amazing because when I was 8 months pregnant the girl came to lay hardwood floors in my house that we were remolding, along with her awesome sister in law. We weren’t even super close and she came to work on my house! How awesome is that? 

  Well in March of 09’, I went through a very very hard time in my life. My son’s father and I got divorced. My baby was only 2 months old and I felt very alone and very friendless. Amanda picked me up and dusted me off. She occupied my time when my son visited his father so I wouldn’t have to be alone, she wiped my tears away, she cheered me on, got mad with me and For me and was one of my biggest rocks. For that I love her more than she will ever know. If that doesn’t show God’s love I don’t know what does.

 We have gone through so many awesome times together since then. I got to watch her fall in love with an awesome man! I got to help her plan her wedding and watch her walk down the aisle. She got to watch me fall in love and make wedding plans, even though I swore to her I would NEVER again get married. My heart melted the day I got the phone call about MR. FAR and was so excited the day he came to meet us! 

 

 

  All in all it seems like wayyy more than 6 years have passed and I am so thankful that God made her a part of my life. She the bestiest bestie around. If you have a best friend, call em’ and tell em’ you love them. Now! :)  Oh and continue to read Tales from Far and sometimes Foodie Mommy.. because you know… they don’t always get published….

Friday Letters

Dear RB: I love your passion. What I mean is I love how when you get something in your mind, and you stick with it and you always accomplish what you want. One of the many features I love about you! Enjoy your boys night with my brother :) Dear Andy: Please take care of my hubby tomorrow night, and stay outta jail trouble (I kid... my brother is a youth pastor) Dear FAR: Are you so excited for mommy Fletch night tonight? You, Me, and Mickey Mouse!!! Dear Michelle: I get to see your face tomorrow! I'm so excited!!! And by the way, if you don't blog soon i'm gonna punch you in the kidney. I kid, I know you've been uber busy! Dear Blog: I know i've been neglecting you and i'm so so sorry. This week has been crazy and I start school on Monday - so there might be a little bit more neglect in your near future but it'll be ok, I promise.

Double Coronary Bypass

Friday night we left FAR with his Granny and Grannanny and RB and I went on a REAL DATE. Mommies do you remember those? Yeah it's okay, I didn't either. So we got in the car with an empty car seat and away we went! 

We met up with my bestie and her hubby to go to dinner @ The Vortex! The Vortex is a famous staple in the ATL and they are famous for their Double Coronary Bypass. What is that exactly? 

"Twice as big as the Coronary Bypass! Topped with two fried eggs, siz slices of American Cheese, and eight slices of bacon, all served between the two grilled cheese sandwiches that we use in place of the regular hamburger buns."
