Puddles of Fun

Okay so who noticed that the post that was scheduled for today went up yesterday?? And I didn't even bother to change it. Ooops. I was too busy...

I know that a lot of people are hurting and having struggles from Hurricane Issac. Our thoughts and prayers are with them always. Thankfully (so far) all Hurricane Issac brought to our house was this puddle. And the fun that FAR and I had playing in it today. (and rising gas prices a week and a half before we leave for vacation, but I don't even want to go there!!)

So Issac, thanks for the puddle, and thanks for the fun memories with FAR. But could you let up on the rest of the country please?

Blogger Problems

I know I know it's Thursday. and these are the first words you've heard from me all week. Have you missed me?!! I just wanted to pop in and say that were still here and going... kinda. My classes are really kicking my tail booty this semester. But there are a few things I want you to know...

Have you had the chance to click on the Team Tori button on my sidebar? Well let me tell you, Tori is the sweetest little girl who is currently undergoing Chemo. She is 6 years old and has neurofibromatosis. (it causes tumors to grow on the nerves of her little body) Her momma Michelle is a strong amazing woman, and she's giving away a Cat in the Hat Crayon Tote. So go check it out and enter here

To Girls and a Pin went live yesterday!! This is a fun link up where you link up any of your DIY posts and you will be entered to win a prize. You can enter all month long so go do that here

Ok that's all i've got for you... oh wait I just lied. How about some cuteness? You're Welcome.

I promise FAR does more than sleep... he's just had a horrible cold this past week and were just getting over it.

and what have I been doing this week? Funny you should ask...
Blah.

The Thing About Joy

Today i'm not going to do any talking... i'm gonna let my friend Bree talk to you today :) PS- I'm turning comments off so you can go visit her amazing blog! Tell her I sent ya ;)
Photobucket

Hello lovely readers! My name is Bree and I blog at The Thing About Joy!

I am a young twenty something Graphic Design Student, a newlywed, Sunday school teacher, oldest of 4 kids, and... I guess a lot more "titles." :))

But if you really knew me... you'd know that I love COLOR. Lots of color. That is what inspires me. It inspires every design I make, everything I sketch, everything I create for my home... All because of how the color has inspired me.

You'd know that I have had a hard time deciding what to major in in college. I was first going for a degree in Marketing, but realized I would end up in a job that I didn't like. I needed something that allowed me to be more creative! Something where I could make something every day, and work with people constantly. That is why I finally figured out I should go for Graphic Design. Now, school starts on Monday and I am so excited to learn more!! Where as before, I would not be excited for school, but instead would dread the long drive, huge classes, and boring subjects. I can't wait for Monday! Although, I will admit, the first day in class I always get nervous! I guess because of meeting new people, finding out if the teacher is nice or not... yeah, I'm a little nervous. :) But very excited too!

If you really knew me  you'd know that I love being married. We've had our ups and downs, and school causes trouble sometimes... but I could not be more happy. I can't imagine not having married this man. November 21st will be our 2nd anniversary, and that country song is true... "And I thought I loved you then..."

If you really knew me, you'd know that I doubt myself, but I push myself too. You'd know that I really hate running, but I love spinning. You'd know that I am a HUGE football fan, but I despise baseball. You'd know that I hate action movies, scary movies, or sci-fi... and that when it comes to movies I like feel good, happy, romantic comedies. Nothing sad. :)) I like to keep positive and happy, so why get sad?

One of my favorite quotes that I like to remind myself of often, "Every Artist Was Wonce an Amateur."

So, what will you find if you visit my blog?

Lots of color - Inspiration - Art Journaling - Fitspiration Series - Crazy Stories - Things that are happening and inspiring this College Student, and the adventures she is finding herself in.

I hope you stop by! If you do, leave a comment, I love meeting new friends.

 Have a wonderful Saturday!

Two Girls and a Pin with Amanda and Brittany

DIY Washer Bracelets
First you'll need to gather your supplies:

Ribbon  (not too thick)
Scissors
Tape
Washers (different sizes are available, so choose the size you prefer)

Measure out your ribbon and cut.  Allow a lot of extra wiggle room.

Tape the end of the ribbon to make threading easier.

Slide on your first and second washer.

Here's the tricky part:  Take the taped end of your ribbon and thread it back through the first washer.

Make sure you pull it tight.

Now, weave the taped end of the ribbon back through the second washer like a figure 8.

Thread on your third washer.  Weave the taped end of the ribbon back through the second washer.  Then weave it back through the third washer making another figure 8 and pulling the ribbon tight.  Continue this pattern until you've gotten the desired number of washers on your bracelet.

Trim the excess ribbon and tie around your wrist.

Voila.  Washer bracelets.  This can be adapted to a necklace if you'd like.

The Pinspiration:

Don't forget to add you link to join the party and enter the giveaway!

First Day

So yesterday was my FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! I'm not going to lie to you, I was going to get my hubby to take my first day of school picture for the blog and I was going to tell you what an amazing day I had as a born again college student. Because you know; like we discussed yesterday, I was  getting a great night of sleep, gonna wake up, get all my online work done, take a test to exempt my Research class so I got the credit but didn't have to take it. RB was going to be home from work before 5 like he discussed with his boss, I was leaving FAR with him, gonna get in my shinny Kia (who's name is Mia) and drive to school with a smile on my face.

I wish. Let's talk about what really happened shall we?

I did get a great night of sleep, but Fletch woke up so sick with a horrid cold. So I jump on the computer while RB gets ready for work and feeds Fletch breakfast and I decide, hey I have time to do my super important test before RB leaves. They give me a hour but yeah.. i'm way smarter than that and I can fly through it...

That test kicked my butt. I failed. So who will be taking Research this semester? Yours truly. and that is a lesson learned to me that I do not know everything, I can't do it all, and I am not superwoman.  Thanks Jesus. Good lesson...

I was so angry at myself and I took it allll out on RB. (Who's a horrible wife? *raises hand*) After giving him the 3rd degree as he walked out the door to go to work, I sent him a text telling him something along the lines of thanks for not supporting me (not true) and we got into a huge fight. He called me from work and basically told me he was right and I was wrong. He does support me. He tried to help me twice before he left. and that if I didn't appreciate him, I could do it all by myself he wasn't helping anymore.

And you know what bloggy friends? That was exactly what I needed to hear. I'm gonna say this once so listen carefully because I don't say this a lot...

He was right. I deserved it.

After that moment I turned off the computer. I spent the rest of the afternoon with my baby guy. Trying to teach him to color red. Playing blocks. Tickling his pigs. Then and there I decided a few things...

If FAR needs me, he will get me. If he is not asleep, or playing with his dad, my computer will be off. I will be spending time with my son.

It's all about balance. I've got to find the right time to get my school work done, get things done around the house, spend time with my family, and sleep.

Anyway, back to my day. So then RB text's me his schedule and I realize he gets off at 6 not before 5. So thank God for my sister I can take FAR to her on my way to school.

So no first day of school pictues for you, in fact, after yesterday, no pictures at all. I feel like i've been hit by a bus. I am so mentally exausted I could scream. This is why your getting a rambling babbling long blog post...

But it's from my heart. and that counts for something right?

PS- Mia the Kia wasn't shiny at all... she was totally dirty.

Sunday.. oh wait we mean Monday...

Okay so i'm not going to lie. 99% of the time when I tell you it's Monday, it's really Sunday at my house. I like to have my blog posts scheduled so they will be live when you wake up in the mornings, because normally, when your waking up, getting ready for work, reading my your favorite blog, etc i'm either...

A) Still sound asleep with my baby who usually sleeps till 8:30-9ish or
B) Laying in the bed cuddling with said baby

but tomorrow (Monday) is the game changer. Is the first. day. of. school. starting tomorrow i'm going to have to figure out some kind of schedule to get my school work done. (i'm taking 1 class on campus; 4 classes online) Because if you ever had a toddler, being on the computer while he wants to play is not gonna happen. FAR knows where the power button is on my PC and he likes to use it (which is why I need a MAC but that is a whole other story!) but i'll figure it out. This is such a big change for our family and i'm so excited to be embarking on another adventure :-)

So about the weekend... Friday RB went to a concert with my brother after work so Fletch and I played and had a mommy/son night.  Saturday we went to breakfast with my mom and then my mom & I went and got pedi's and RB and FAR went to Walmart...

Toddlers so soo cute when they sleep all the time! Sunday we got to go to church as a family. Then I took a 5 hour nap while my amazeballs hubby played with FAR. So all in all it was a great weekend with my sweet little  family :)

So I hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday Monday. and now i'm off to watch some Eric Bill & Sookie.. because you know, it may be your Monday, but it's my Sunday.

Grass Cutting

Now that Fletcher is 14 months old, i've decided to start making him do some work around the here. He already knows how to do fix his own snacks, do his own laundry, and drive. So Yesterday, he learned how to cut grass...

Isn't he the cutest landscaper ever? I think we could make a business out of this.....

Living

This weekend I didn't have a bloggy party (Thx Brit- jk jk), and I didn't plan any future posts. I also didn't even sit down at my computer except to pay bills!

What I did do was...

- Had lunch with one of my BFF's

- Started planning our family vacation that is in less than a month

- Cuddled with Fletcher and tickled his toes Saturday morning

- Spent almost $600 in textbooks (including a $150 calculator! AHH!)

- Cleaned up Fletch's vomit because he gagged himself with a Poweraide top

- Ate Pacho's twice (and both times it was free for me!)

- Watched This Means War with my family (It was so so)

- Went to RB's Aunt & Uncle 's 50th Birthday Party

- Wore this dress:
(Its not a great picture I know... be thankful I cropped my face out.)

I lived the life I love to blog about! and it felt wonderful!! I was a mom. a wife. a best friend. I wasn't a blogger. and it was a nice break.... but now it's Monday. And i'm ready to jump back into my tweeting, my facebooking, and most importantly, my blogging. :)

So thanks weekend, you're the best. I hope you treated my readers as awesome as you treated me :)
